A STORIED BEGINNING
Starting in 1957 with just £50, Abdul Kader and his wife Maryam built a small drapery in Bradford sourcing Lancashire cottons for Yorkshire's Asian communities. As the traditional British textile industry declined, they pivoted to importing fabrics from South Asia, giving birth to Bombay Stores.
REMARKABLE GROWTH & REACH
In the early 1980s, their son Saleem expanded operations by converting a disused garage into what today stands as the UK's largest Asian department store - a 15,000 sq ft superstore now run by daughter Sabra Kader and her sons.

Celebrated as Bradford's go-to for South Asian fashion and heritage, Bombay Stores imports everything from fabrics and footwear to bridal wear and staging props, supplying major productions like Coronation Street.
